Dwight Kessel, Vice-Chairman

Wallace Dwight Kessel is a member of the Board of Directors for Educational Services of America, Inc. ("ESA"). He also serves as Vice-Chairman for ESA and is a member of the Executive Committee for the Board. Mr. Kessel is President of Lakeside Partnership, Inc. He helped build Chapman Drug Company from a small family-owned drug distributor into a multi-state chain. He also helped create one of the first local internet companies, U.S. Internet. Mr. Kessel served as President of Knox Air, Inc. and on the Board of Directors as well. He served as Knoxville City Councilman from 1963-66, Knox County Clerk from 1966-80 and in 1980, he was elected as the first Knox County Executive (Mayor), where he held office until 1994. Mr. Kessel attended Duke University and the U.S. Naval Academy. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering. He is currently serving as a Board member and holds offices in many of the following organizations: Tennessee Valley A & I Fair, YMCA, Baptist Health System Foundation, Knox County Employees’ Credit Union, University-wide Development Council, Tennessee Center for Research and Development, Interfaith Health Clinic Foundation, East Tennessee Historical Society and the Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame. Mr. Kessel is a member of the First Leadership Knoxville Class. Mr. Kessel, over the span of his career, has been actively involved in numerous charitable and social service organizations. He has been a member of the West Knoxville Kiwanis Club for 54 years. He still maintains a deep interest in the University of Tennessee where he and his wife have established scholarships in the College of Engineering and University of Tennessee Institute of Public Services.
