Edscholar Selection Process

Edscholars are selected from eligible candidates who meet a range of criteria. An eligible candidate must:

  • Be a Tennessee resident
  • Have a minimum 3.25 GPA for the first 7 semesters of high school or ACT composite of at least 23 or SAT score of at least 1070
  • Have financial need (FAFSA)
  • Be involved in community service/leadership

Awards are made by participating colleges and universities in Tennessee to well-rounded students who seek to excel and strive to give back to their communities. In order to maintain their designation as Edscholars and receive scholarship money for tuition beyond their freshman year, students must maintain a minimum GPA, attend full time, and be in good standing.

To be considered for an Edscholar award, participating institutions may require submission of any or all of the following applications:

  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • General institutional scholarship application
  • Edscholar application form

Incoming freshmen who wish to apply for scholarships may contact the financial aid office or admissions department at their chosen college or university for details.
